I strongly recommend that you create an rpmbuild environment in your home area rather than /usr/src/redhat. It's easy to do. Just create ~/.rpmmacros containing: %_topdir /home/ewilts/rpm Now create the directories in your rpm sub-directory just like they're in /usr/src/redhat. When you install the source rpm, it will be in your own sub-directory.
