Are you saying you already bought it, installed it, and it's not giving
you sound?  According to http://www.opensound.com/ossapps.html it lists
Quake in the Games section (although it just says Quake and nothing about
III) as being supported.  Have you tried their support?  According to
their site, their support is a big selling point.  Seems like it should
work.

As a side note, you might check to see if your sound card has been added
to the supported ones in any of the future kernels.  This was the case for
mine, so installed the 2.4.20 kernel and my sound works now.
