Perhaps then, "Linux Administration Handbook" by Nemeth, Snyder, and
Hein. Published 2002 by Prentice Hall PTR. ISBN 0-13-008466-2. $49.99
at local book store. Covers RH (7.2), SuSE (7.3), and Debian (3.0)
releases. The vast majority of the material (at least through chapter
13) is not specific to any given distribution or release. I have
administered UNIX and Linux systems for something like 20 years, and
am still learning things from this book.
