I'd like to thank everyone for the help on getting this worked out.

My feedback, to those who may care, is that there's too many variations on the 
solutions it seems.  Are the files in /etc/wlan valid?  Do they eliminate the 
need for the entries in /etc/pcmcia?  It goes from there down.  :)
