i finally managed to get the system boot a custom built kernel. the thing that made the difference was enabling RAM disk + initrd support (CONFIG_BLK_DEV_RAM, CONFIG_BLK_DEV_INITRD) in kernel config. i also had to create an initrd file for the kernel and define it in grub.conf. this was the only change i did to kernel config but after this the kernel boots. i really don't understand why this is as the initrd image contains no device driver modules at all. best regards, -- aspa -- Psyche-list mailing list Psyche-list@redhat.com https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/psyche-list
