... and it is HARD to uninstall. At least was Ximian in RHL 7.3. When I
tried to upgrade to 8.0, of course, I got a lot of dependency errors and
there was no obvious way to uninstall Ximian. Anyway, I did a lot of rpm
-e and then look after dependencies, and rpm -e those also... until I
almost finished up with a kernel & bash system ;). After that, RHL 8.0
installed flawlessly :D

Anyway, I downloaded and installed (in a test computer) all the Ximian
Evolution's RPMs. It didn't crash randomly as the previous betas (from
Ximian and from rawhide), but it still doesn't do very well with my two
HUGE "imaps" accounts. I am not sure if it is the fact that I am using
imap over ssl or the fact that I have *A LOT* of big subscribed folders,
as I show here:

Account 1:

[imoq@principal mail]$ pwd
/home/imoq/mail
[imoq@principal mail]$ du -ks
342156 .

Account 2:

[imoq@mail mail]$ pwd
/home/imoq/mail
[imoq@mail mail]$ du -ks
820044 .

So, probably it is the fact that I do have a lot of IMAP mail folders
that Evolution 1.2 acts "funny".

In the first place, it doesn't recognize my "mail/" folderspace, I have
to configure it manually. Even after I configure it manually, I have to
manually "subscribe" my mail folders so they appear under the account.

After closing and open Evolution 1.2, it loses the "subscribed folders"
and I have to go over them suscribing again. Evolution 1.2 also gives me
some errors about the SSL certificates and sometimes (?) shows the mail
but sometimes (it seems to be so random) doesn't.

The IMAP + SSL is working very well under Evolution 1.0.8 (from where I
am typing), mozilla mail, Outlook (ouch!) and can't remember if any
other.

I tried to backup the ~/evolution folder and erase it, so Evolution 1.2
would redo the settings. After configuring the IMAP accounts it started
to act funny again.

Anyway, this message was just to share my experience with the program
and to let you know about a possible issue in IMAP + SSL (big?)
accounts. It is not a big issue, since I will continue using 1.0.8 until
1.2.x works somehow.

Alex.
