I was getting:

I tried the suggested env LANG=C acroread  as stated in the Release
Notes, but it didn't work for me.  I found a rpm at
http://www.gurulabs.com/downloads.html   that has worked great.  

I was also able to get acrobat reader to work the other way, but with
LANG="en_US"
