I missed the start of this.

That's a PCI card so IRQs and IO shouldn't be an issue.
There are no options for either in the driver, it
is all designed to be autodetected.

What does 'lspci -v' show about it?
What driver is trying to be used?
Look in /etc/modules.conf for the line
alias eth0 <some driver>

It should be using the natsemi driver
(that's the one in the current FA311/312 drivers
from Netgear any way)
