How to remove/replace Gnome2

Is it possible to remove all of Gnome2 and then reinstall it again?
After a panel crash and a battery applet segfault, Gnome2 has apparently
become badly corrupted for all users on one of my systems (KDE still
works fine). All title, menu, and foreground fonts are now about one
pixel high and thus completely unusable. I've tried 'rpm -e' using a
list of all of packages containing "gnome", but met with a snowstorm of
dependency warnings.

Can anyone provide a step-by-step list I can follow to completely remove
all G2 RPMs, configuration files, and directories so that I can then
install a fresh working version from scratch?
