Its been there since at least 7.2. Is this important information?

It still works the old way in /usr/share/sendmail-cf/cf with the ./Build
script. May I ask what bearing this has on the discussion?

Not sure what prompted the tone of your comments but maybe you can
tell me why I would run an nslookup on a domain that is unrelated to
anything posted here.

Further, mail comes to me at hgp@global.net even though global.net is
another one that cannot be nslooked up. (with my ISP's nameservers)

The smarthost posted was mail.sbcglobal.yahoo.com. It cannot be
looked up either (with my ISP's nameservers), but it works when I use
it with a client (forte-agent) on a friends winxp machine. Both
machines recieve mail addressed to hgp@sbcglobal.net with no problem.

So you can rest easy... yahoo and pacbell are interlocked here in San
Diego. My pacbell dsl service uses the posted addresses. When my
modem came, it has `sbc yahoo' printed all over it. Once again
I'm curious how this fits into the discussion.

You might want to follow the advice given with the nslookup tool
before posting... try dig on the posted addresses.
