I've played around a little bit with KDE, and the performance is a little bit sluggish compared to Gnome2, but still passable. It's running on a VIA MVP4 mobo with integrated Trident video and VIA AC97 audio. Moz. 1.2b with XFT support is noticeably slower than what comes in the box, and Phoenix with XFT support enabled is also slower than the plain-vanilla Phoenix.
