That is my all around solution to all problems.  Or at least my 
troubleshooting step number 1:  rpm -e magicdev
Problem solved?  Ok, good.  No, ok, deeper investigation time...

Also uninstall or disable magicdev if you have a cd or dvd
burner or you'll make hundreds of coasters.
