USB or serial? If it is USB, hit the hotsync button, then, as root, run the command "dmesg". This will show you which port the visor is attached to. If you would like you can do a ln -s to /dev/pilot from that device, or just simply specify the correct device. Also make sure you change the permissions of the dev (for usb most likely /dev/usb/ttyUSB1) appropriately.
