Promise FastTrak 100 RAID boot lockup

Hello,
I'm a Windows XP user who is trying to get the default installation of RH8 working on my computer. The problem is, RH8 (and previously, RH7.3 too) won't boot if i have more than 2 harddrives connected to my RAID controller (I have 3 HDs connected). If I remove either one (not the one with the OS on it) then RH boots up fine. However, with 3 connected, it freezes during bootup... here is the message shown up to that point: (sorry for any typos, i couldn't copy it from /var/log/messages because that file was 0 bytes)

PDC 20265: Chipset revision 2 (that's the name of my onboard promise FT100 controller)

IDE3 at 0x1000-0x1007, 0xa402 on irq 10
blk: queue c03ba6ec, I/O limiot 4095mb (mask 0xffffffff) (I think it freezes here because it's trying to get IDE 4 now, but didn't detect it right before or something)

After it freezes, hitting ALT-CTRL-DEL does not reboot the machine. I have to hit the little reset switch on the front of the computer to do that. However, when I do that (soft reboot) the RAID bios comes up saying something like "Warning: Promise FastTrak 100 does not detect proper interrupts, check PCI IRQ setup and make sure bus mastering is supported by the PCI slot". If i go ahead an do a hard reboot (turning off the switch in the back and then turning it back on) then the RAID bios completes successfully and I can try to boot again.
I upgraded my raid bios to the latest version 2.00.0.24 which supports 48 bit LBA addressing, and updated my Win XP drivers accordingly, and XP runs without a hitch, regardless of the number of IDE raid devices connected. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.... Thanks!

Victor

I have all three drives configured as separate drives (not linked together via RAID 0 or 1 because they are not the same sizes, 30gb, 45gb, 120gb)
