Here is what my system has:

[root@gstpc gerry]# which ooffice
/usr/bin/ooffice
[root@gstpc gerry]# which oowriter
/usr/bin/oowriter
[root@gstpc gerry]# rpm -q openoffice
openoffice-1.0.1-8
[root@gstpc gerry]#

Is it possible you don't have the rpm installed?
