i'm not sure about the version of xfree86 shipped with fedora, but
xfree86 cvs and the soon to be released 4.4 do support the DRI on 9200
chips.  It sounds like it works on fedora as well from what you've said
here.  I suspect the hwdata file or whatever is out of data.
