Which all software will interpret via the file extension to be a 
Microsoft Word document, which is exactly what your email 
software classified it as.

To avoid this problem in the future, name files which contain 
pure text, as ".txt"  All software will interpret .txt files to 
be the proper mimetype of text/plain and anyone can easily view 
it directly in their email software, and not have to guess what 
the real file type is.

Just a suggestion.
