Question 1:
Do I have to upgrade my kernel to kernel-2.4.18-18.7.x before I can upgrade
XFree86-4.1.0-25?
First Command:
[root@seabiscuit /root]# rpm -Uvh XFree86*.rpm Mesa*.rpm
xinitrc-3.20-1.noarch.r
pm
error: failed dependencies:
kernel-drm = 4.1.0 is needed by XFree86-4.1.0-25
xinitrc >= 3.13 is needed by XFree86-xdm-4.1.0-25
[root@seabiscuit /root]#
Question 2:
I can not find kernel-drm = 4.1.0 and on redhat or findrpm site. Is
kernel-drm-2.4.18-6 a subsititute?
**(Note I can not find kernel-drm = 4.1.0 on redhat or findrpm site)
Second command:
[root@seabiscuit /root]# rpm -Uvh XFree86*.rpm Mesa*.rpm
xinitrc-3.20-1.noarch.
rpm
error: failed dependencies:
kernel-drm = 4.1.0 is needed by XFree86-4.1.0-25
Question 3:
Do I have to upgrade all the rpm's below to upgrade my kernel to
kernel-2.4.18-18.7.x before I can upgrade XFree86-4.1.0-25?
Third command:
[root@seabiscuit /root]# rpm -Uvh XFree86*.rpm Mesa*.rpm
xinitrc-3.20-1.noarch.rpm kernel*.rpm
error: failed dependencies:
kernel-drm = 4.1.0 is needed by XFree86-4.1.0-25
modutils >= 2.4.18 is needed by kernel-2.4.18-18.7.x
mkinitrd >= 3.2.6 is needed by kernel-2.4.18-18.7.x
e2fsprogs < 1.22 conflicts with kernel-2.4.18-18.7.x
initscripts < 5.84 conflicts with kernel-2.4.18-18.7.x
dev < 3.2-7 conflicts with kernel-2.4.18-18.7.x
iptables < 1.2.5-3 conflicts with kernel-2.4.18-18.7.x
geninitrd >= 2.13 is needed by kernel-2.4.18-6
modutils >= 2.4.18 is needed by kernel-BOOT-2.4.18-18.7.x
e2fsprogs < 1.22 conflicts with kernel-BOOT-2.4.18-18.7.x
initscripts < 5.84 conflicts with kernel-BOOT-2.4.18-18.7.x

iptables < 1.2.5-3 conflicts with kernel-BOOT-2.4.18-18.7.x
[root@seabiscuit /root]#
Question 4:
Is there a simplier way to deal with this issue i.e. one
cdrom (iso image) I can download to upgrade to XFree86-4.1.0-25 ?

Thanks
