How do I use both a VGA and DVI-D output?

Hi,
Is there anyone that can show me their X86Config file where they are
successfully using both the DVI-D and VGA outputs of any graphics card ??

I've got a problem in that while both:

1) The graphics shown by 'grub' offering me an option to boot Windoze or Linux
comes out of both the VGA and DVI-D outputs of my graphics card.

AND
2) The text messages while booting come out of both the VGA and DVI-D ports of
the card.

X will not - it only comes from the VGA port.

I think the problems I have with my Redhat 7.3/Xfree86 4.2 and my ATI Radeon
7500 video card may be more related to the fact I've not got the second display
(DVI-D) configured improperly, rather than any specific problem with my driver.
Hence perhaps the relevant sections of any X86Config file will sort me out.
