From 'man xrdb': ................ The file specified by filename (or the contents from stan dard input if - or no filename is given) is optionally passed through the C preprocessor with the following sym bols defined, based on the capabilities of the server being used: ................ (followed by a long list of defined symbols and many other references to 'cpp' preprocessor). This is really useful if you are using xrdb and I used it many times although you may specify '-nocpp' on a command line to xrdb. I would not mind something more suitable for the job, as using cpp is obviously a hack, but .... Michal
