Embarrassingly enough, yes, once I realised I had screen 1 labelled
as "Screen0" in the config.

I'd actually read a discussion of this very issue last night, at home,
completely forgotten it by the time I got into work this morning, and
failed to connect it with the problem I was seeing ... it's because I
disabled DDC, and the default is now to use Composite unless told not
to, isn't it?
