anyone know how pcitable works with loading modules??

with the system that has the old megraid that is found and works..

if i do a scanpci, it's not recognized there either..

i'm assuming scanpci just looks up the various vendor and card id's from
pcitable??

where i have it running atm..

megaraid: v1.18c (Release Date: Thu May 16 10:27:55 EDT 2002)
megaraid: found 0x1000:0x1960:idx 0:bus 3:slot 9:func 0
scsi0 : Found a MegaRAID controller at 0xf8842000, IRQ: 27
megaraid: [1L19:1.04] detected 1 logical drives
megaraid: supports extended CDBs.
megaraid: channel[1] is raid.
scsi0 : LSI Logic MegaRAID 1L19 254 commands 15 targs 4 chans 7 luns
  Vendor: MegaRAID Model: LD0 RAID1 70086R Rev: 1L19

and from pcitable

0x1000 0x1960 "unknown" "LSI Logic / Symbios Logic|PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller 4"
0x1000 0x1960 0x1028 0x0518 "megaraid" "Dell Computer Corporation|PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller 4/DC"
0x1000 0x1960 0x1028 0x0520 "megaraid" "Dell Computer Corporation|PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller 4/SC"
0x1000 0x1960 0x1028 0x0531 "megaraid" "Dell Computer Corporation|PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller 4/QC"

I updated hwdata from rawhide to get the latest and greatest.. could
this be why the installer isn't loading the megaraid driver??

however all this doesn't explain why the old megaraid card works because
it to, isn't in the pcitable.. :(

thoughts?

ajt.
