I have a laptop on which I am trying to build a custom kernel with a custom aironet wireless driver with which I plan to do network analysis on a 802.11b wireless network (raw 802.11b packet capture). I began a while ago by building what was then the latest 2.4.x kernel, and had a weird problem where the kernel seemed to build and install fine but then after I selected it from the bootloader (I tried both lilo and grub) the laptop would immediately reboot. I have since built and installed several 2.2.x and 2.4.x kernels on the machine. The 2.2.x kernels work fine (it gets past the reboot stage) but the aironet driver does not seem to work with the 2.2.x kernel. The 2.4.x kernels all exhibit the same strange reboot behavior. The only exception is the stock redhat 2.4 kernels which work fine. I have tried a BIOS update on the laptop and it did not seem to make any difference. Any pointers on what could be causing this, easier ways of reaching my goal, better mailing lists, etc. would be much appreciated. Thanks. -- Joshua Daniel Franklin Network Administrator IOCC.COM _______________________________________________ Redhat-devel-list mailing list Redhat-devel-list@redhat.com https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-devel-list
