Thank you again for your support.

I am using separate disk with LVM and in it I have Reiser4, is there any possibility to extend reiser4 fs ?

Not yet.
We have plans to implement 2-dimentional scaling out of Reiser4 volumes:

1) add/remove a data brick;
2) stretch/squeeze a meta-data brick after extending/shrinking the underlying (LVM) device.

(1) is ready on ~70%, I hope to announce it in Summer.
(2) should be implemented similarly to reiserfs (v3) resize functionality.

I guess you are interested in (2), as compressed data is always located on meta-data brick (as a set of "fragments", i.e. records in the storage tree). However, (2) is of low priority, as more or less trivial feature (one should take a look at reiserfs (v3) implementation and do
similarly), so I decided to start from (1).

Thanks,
Edward.

I do not find tools for that. Will it extend once LVM partision will extend?
Or it should be done offline?

Didn't find such tools in /opt/reiser4progs/sbin/*, or at least similar name, I have only "debugfs.reiser4 ; fsck.reiser4 ; make_reiser4 ; measurefs.reiser4 ; mkfs.reiser4"

Maybe you know how I can select which compression to use, and compression option/level?

I want to use it for rsyslog server with OpenStack services in debug mode. So many logs will go there...
I would suggest to use a dedicated partition with zstd1 compression in intelligent mode.
Simply specify "-o compress=zstd1" when formatting a partition.

Thanks,
Edward.

And btrfs is strugling a bit.

Hi all,

Sorry for spam, several years ago, (about 2005 - 2006) I have done tests with reiser4, and it had transparent compression, does it still have such option?

Yes it does, now it's enabled by default.

I do not see it in:
https://reiser4.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Mount4
But I see it is marked available in wiki:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reiser4

Sorry one more time for spamming.

Thanks.
