That is one way Red Hat makes money.
BTW, you only purchased support via limited amount of time. -- similiar to cell phone or cable service.
A Red Hat sales rep will probably be happy to explain this to you.
Many other companies follow this model: Sun Microsystems, Ubuntu, IBM, HP, et al.
