I have gone through the regular up2date sequences, but have made no major upgrades to the system. This is a production system, so I have to keep it running.

I know I used to be able to write dvds from my RedHat system.

Have you upgraded, or made changes to the system?

I used to use

growisofs -dvd-compat -speed=16 -Z /dev/hdb=Fedora-8-i386-DVD.iso

but I get the error message:

:-( /dev/hdb: media is not recognized as recordable DVD: 0

I have tried using both imation dvd-r/16x and
                   Memorex dvd+r/16x

cdrecord -v speed=16 dev=/dev/hdb name.iso - works, so I know
that the device that I am using is correct.

cdrecord -scanbus

0,0,0 0) 'TSSTcorp' 'DVD-ROM TS-H352C' 'DE02' Removable CD- ROM 0,1,0 1) 'HL-DT-ST' 'DVD+-RW GWA4164B' 'D108' Removable CD-ROM

uname -a - 2.6.9-67.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP
rpm -aq cdrecord - cdrecord-2.01.1-5
