Hi Wayne, 

Thank for the reply . You were right. It was my mistake that I rsync
/var instead of /var/ . It works now. Only glitch is while starting X it
stops at "system logger " for long time , then says failed then it
finally boots.
One more question I have is it possible to extend /usr which is
currently part of root. What I mean is can I just take out /usr and
extend it to new hard drive by creating new Volume group etc.
