The reason I asked was that I not infrequently see odd permissions, and of course numeric owners instead of names, if there's no ldap, and the user doesn't exist on the box that has remote mounted a directory/filesystem.
nope. I dont think that is the problem overhere. There is no remote user, LDAP or otherwise.
