We've had these errors before on old RH 7.3 boxes that worked great for years.  Not that I
think 
it was 7.3 related, just mentioning that it wasn't AS4.  A reboot would sometimes help for
alittle 
bit, but it always returned.  Turned out to be the hard drives failing.  Usually was something
in
syslog.
