-bash: /bin/ls: Input/output error
[oracle@oracle250 bdump]$ cd ..
[oracle@oracle250 bjsw2]$ ls
-bash: /bin/ls: Input/output error
[oracle@oracle250 bjsw2]$ ll
-bash: /bin/ls: Input/output error

Try "rpm -Va".

If you see a bunch of messed up checksums on programs like "ls" and "ps", then you have a probably been rooted.

The only time I have seen those error messages has been systems that have had a rootkit installed, but got the wrong version of gcc/glibc.
