For imaging, use kickstart (which is awesome beyond words) or, if you
have lots of custom stuff installed, tar.  Boot off CD, mount an NFS
share, and tar / to it.  Repeat in reverse for the target system.

For simple failover, Linux-HA would probably be an easier (and
cheaper) setup than GFS + Cluster Suite.  You could also use Lustre as
an alternative to GFS, if low cost is more important that enterprise
support.
