I am new to this really. Sorry for asking again.
How am I creating thease directory structure. Command Mkdir I know and
why it carries , (comma) mark in between these directors.(line needed
some simple explanation)
------# mkdir -p ~/REDHAT/{RPMS,SRPMS,SPECS,BUILD,SOURCES}-------??
This is equivalent to the following:
# mkdir -p ~/REDHAT
# mkdir -p ~/REDHAT/RPMS
# mkdir -p ~/REDHAT/SRPMS
# mkdir -p ~/REDHAT/SPECS
# mkdir -p ~/REDHAT/BUILD
# mkdir -p ~/REDHAT/SOURCES
Thanks for Stuart for showing me that syntax - I wasn't aware of that!
You can also use it with the ls command:
# ls /etc/{cron.daily,cron.weekly}
or more interestingly:
# ls /etc/cron{.daily,.weekly}
the best use for that syntax is for renaming files:
cp file.conf{,.old}
This is equivelent to:
cp file.conf file.conf.old
