Hello list, I've just installed RHEL4 on a test machine and symlinked the default.png background image to another one. This is because we have a different background image on all of our machines, based on the machine-name. So instead of going to every machine and manually define the background image, we create the different images and symlink them to the default.png. This method works very well on RHEL3. The problem now: we don't get any desktop image, and worse, it's not even possible to right click on the desktop, in order to, say, open a new terminal. - How do I revert my installation so that I can get the default image? - What would be the right way to acheive what we want to do?
