Hello, We currently have a WS3 server with has mysql 3.23 installed via rpm. I want to upgrade the mysql to 4.0.24 (latest 4.0 binary). I was just going to uninstall the rpm for mysql 3.23 and then install the new binary in /usr/local but I see that mysql 3.23 has the following dependencies: rpm -e --test mysql-3.23.58-1 error: Failed dependencies: libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) mod_auth_mysql-20030510-1.ent libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) perl-DBD- MySQL-2.1021-3 libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) php- mysql-4.3.2-8.ent libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) libdbi-dbd- mysql-0.6.5-5 libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) MySQL- python-0.9.1-6 libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) qt-MySQL-3.1.2-13 libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by (installed) MyODBC-2.50.39-12 mysql = 3.23.58 is needed by (installed) mysql-bench-3.23.58-1 mysql = 3.23.58 is needed by (installed) mysql-devel-3.23.58-1 mysql is needed by (installed) MySQL-python-0.9.1-6 All the dependencies are part of apps we are not currently using except for PHP. We need PHP and we need it with mysql access. Am I correct in assuming that if I remove the dependence "php-mysql-4.3.2-8.ent" that PHP will not longer have mysql access ? Sorry ... I am new to RH ... not up to speed on the RPM thing yet. Thanks. Michael.
