You will need to upgrade to the Pro version." And further this article: http://techupdate.zdnet.com/techupdate/stories/main/0,14179,2820882,00.html "Unlike all other previous Microsoft operating systems, XP Home will simply not work in an office network environment with NetWare, NT, Samba, or Windows 2000 servers. Period. You simply can't connect to the servers' domains or their file/print services." So when you say that this problem is solvable I have just been mislead. Or has there been som upgrades on xp-home-edition in the meantime? I got curious about this issue, did it work for you straight out of the box, or did you have to do some configurations in xp registry? But that doesn't keep it from joining workgroup based servers. You don't need to formulate a domain in order to have a network. I have a Win2K Advanced Server box, a FC 3 box dual booting with XP Pro, an XP Home box (don't ask me why, at least it's not ME), and an XP Pro laptop.
