Doesn't having an RHCE help with job promotions or help to procure jobs.

Do you take the same approach with your driver's license? You paid for the training, the exam, and the state can take it away if you abuse it. You get to keep it if you play by the rules. Break the rules (RHCE or driver's exam) and watch it go away.
A really good way to lose the RHCE designation is to tell other people what's on the exam. Red Hat makes that *VERY* clear when you sit for the exam.
