It doesn't matter if you change your IP/Hostname. The 'profile' you save it under will be associated with that machine. Also, its best to register after installation, then you can do a 'up2date -uf' which will update your installation including the kernel. -----Original Message----- From: redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:redhat-list-bounces@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Shane Presley Sent: Tuesday, December 14, 2004 7:39 AM To: redhat-list@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Connecting to the "Red Hat Network" I recently purchased Red Hat EL ES. Currently I am testing the installation. The server hostname and IP are temporary while I build the machine and learn Red Hat. Should I "register" and "connect to the red hat network" now, or will that give me problems later, when I change the IP and hostname? Is the support network for updates forgiving about IP/name changes (assuming I only have one active at a time)? Any other issues I should be aware of?
