I believe the main advantage of pdf files is that they can be read easily by all
the computer platforms.

Every binary file can be modified. Some just take more work than others.


Yes, of course. But my point is that the reason we go to the expense of generating pdf files is to produce something that can not easily be modified. If someone produces a free pdf editor, we might as well fall back on .doc. Heh.
