hey jason!!

what's up.... i'm playing with something in the back of my mind...
basically, i'm considering what might be used as a dual server, where i can
have two motherboards running in the same box. kindof a cheap two blade
system, with each blade/board with it's own cpu/mem/hard-drive...

i'm considering a usage where i'd be bale to have one board doing
apps/functions.. with the other board doing apps/functions that are being
remotely tasked via the ethernet/internet...

the whole thing would have to run a modified linux, as i'd want to strip out
a bunch of things.... but i'm curious as to if there are any manufacturers
that anybody has dealt with who already make this kind of box...

i would imagine with tech/costs being where it is now.. this should be
doable... for a reasonable cost ~600-800/box...

thanks....

The only thing close to that would be virtual servers or vmware. Multi-processor systems don't work that way the OS can use the processors to spread the work load not run two separate systems in one box.

Subject: question.. not sure where to post..!!

hi...

i have a hardware/system issue, and i'm not sure where to turn...

if i have a dual processor system, with dual cpus/harddrives,
and 2gig of
memory... is there a way to basically run this setup as 2 separate
machines...

or does any body know of a system that actually ships as dual
motherboards,
ie two systems within a single box!!

i'm envisioning a box that would allow me to run two separate
apps/os each
with their own resources (harddrive/memory/cpu/etc..) i'd
like to be able to
have the box use a single ethernet/internet connection, with
the ability to
communicate with both systems as needed...

linux (and linux apps) would be running on both systems...

any ideas/thoughts/comments/etc... i'd really appreciate it
if someone has
knowledge of a biz that develops these systems...

thanks

So buy 2 computers and glue them together. Jesus!
Also you might find very usefull a KVM switch to give you that distinct and original impression that you only have one computer.
