RE: NVidia Drivers

RHEL v3 Desktop

What happend was, was that I installed the drivers (the latest
version). After the installation was complete it said that I would need
to remove the rivafb module before starting X or it might be unstable. I
reconfigured the X86 config file doing what it told me, removing the two
modules (dri and GLcore), making sure that glx was there and then
changing the driver to nvidia. Thinking that I would be ok for a minute
or two I restarted the system. Once it came to the log on screen, it
flashed the NVidia splash screen for about a second, then it shows the
log on screen and blanks out and the only that thing that I can move is
the cursor, because none of the keys work on the keyboard. I popped in
the first cd rom, put it into rescue mode and uninstalled the NVidia
drivers and now it works fine again.

I was going to reinstall the driver again so that maybe it would give
the error in the log but since I deleted the drivers, it also deleted
the nvidia.o file from the kernel source.

Sorry for the lack of information on the first email. Thats what
happends when frustration hits.
Thanks,
Jason
