Cheers, can u check 2 things. 1st: if u r using firewall at u r linux box than do it like this way check rule of output and forward chain related 25 or 110 port blocking. 2nd thing.. do A ) telnet yourispmailserverip.com 25 if u get any some sendmail or banner B) telnet yourispmailserverip.com 110 u will get SMTP is running .. in both u should get some screen things... but if u will get something like trying to connec or connnection refused ... that it is some where else block your ip to access that mail server. Call to your isp.(Make sure u dont have any rule in your local Linux rule for SMTP/IMAP port blocking Rule) On Tue, 28 Sep 2004 15:24:23 -0500 (CDT), Steve Phillips <steve@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Check to make sure you are not dropping packets to port 113 (ident). > > If you are doing this and your ISP is running an MTA such as sendmail then > you will get a TCP timeout before you are able to send mail and this can > be a good two to three mins in some instances (it seems like 10 when you > are sitting and waiting) > > Remember, security by obscurity is no real security - simply dropping all > inbound packets wont tell someone you are not there (you did after all > initiate a communication with the mail server).
