I'd bitch at Comcast, if I were you.  Their system is supposed to be 
DHCP, and it shouldn't matter in the slightest, what OS you're using.

You shouldn't have to expect them to support your OS, but you should be 
able to expect them to not change the method of service provision just to 
break your setup.
