Disable Power Button

Hello all,

Is there a way to disable the power button? Currently, pressing the
power button causes an immediate hard-power-down of the system. I
would like the option to either disable the power button for
non-privileged users altogether. If that isn't possible, it would be
nice to at least have the machine shut down cleanly.

I came across a previous post to the Fedora mailing list that
mentioned modifying /etc/acpi/events/sample.conf to call shutdown when
the power button is pressed, but that directory doesn't exist on this
machine: IBM ThinkCentre M50, which has ACPI support, running EL3 WS.
Is there a way for me to check if ACPI is enabled on this machine?

Any insight into this problem would be appreciated,

Oliver
