format for manually constructing outgoing email text file

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

hello.

i'm not sure how to properly word this so i'm just going to try my best.

i'd like to manually create a text file that when placed in a certain
directory (sendmail's outgoing directory, wherever that is) it will be
sent at the servers earliest convenience (almost right away).

i guess what i'd like to know is the following:

1. what is the format of an outgoing mail? what headers are required?
2. where is sendmail's outgoing directory and if i put a properly
formatted text file in there will it be sent?

thanks,
chris.
