looks like raid array has failed... what to do?

hello everyone,

this morning i tried to log into my web development box via ssh but
could not. i went to the box in the server room and tried to directly
log in but that would not work either. in fact, it wouldn't even respond
to any key presses. it just sat there with a blank screen.

i then turned it off and back on again and each time it fails always at
the same spot. the last few lines read:

md: Autodetecting RAID arrays
  [events: 00000009]
  [events: 00000009]
  [events: 00000009]

and that's it. from then on there is no more hd activity or anything
happening. at one point there were four lines of [events: 00000009] but
after a few cold boots it went down to three lines.

what does this mean and what do i have to do to fix it?

thanks,
chris.
