Steve: You're correct ! It was good catach.. It was not actual IP. ifconfig had diffrent IP...thanks Yes, both servers are on DHCP so it may have changed upon booting...not sure. I changed the IP addess in *hosts* file even though the error messages changed to as follow: [root@node1]# ssh node2 ssh: connect to address 192.168.0.72 port 22: Connection refused netstat -an ( after ssh from node2 to node1 ) --------------------------------------------------- root@node1]# netstat -an |grep 22 tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN tcp 0 0 192.168.0.6:22 192.168.0.72:33092 ESTABLISHED unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 550322 unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 550228 /tmp/.ICE-unix/14537 unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 550227 ifconfig * From: Steve <steve focb co nz> * To: General Red Hat Linux discussion list <redhat-list redhat com> * Subject: Re: Redhat 8.0 -ssh problem - reposted * Date: Tue, 20 Apr 2004 12:39:13 +1200 (NZST) can you post the output from an ifconfig on both boxes ? I think you may find that 192.168.0.71 is not actually the IP address of node2, the other thing you may want to try is posting the output of netstat -an | grep :22 when you are ssh'd from node2 to node1 (type this on node1 after logging in via ssh from node2) are you using DHCP on node2 ? -- Steve. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
