Hi,
to boot into a graphical login, edit /etc/inittab
The line to edit is the one of the first non-commented line. If your booting 
to a command line, it will (likely) be:
id:3:initdefault:
change it to:
id:5:initdefault:

Once you get to a graphical login, you can choose kde or gnome or.. as your 
default desktop environment.
