Subject: Samba Access Denied

I am running a samba server. I have a folder set up with permissions so
only the user Kieran can access it (Using linux permission system), I have
shared the folder using samba and have added the same user and password to
the smbpasswd file (encrypted password). I can only access the folder I am
sharing If I chmod the folder to be public. It is asif linux doesn't
recognise the samba user Kieran, and the linux user Kieran are the same
ones. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Im really stumped, thanks.
