With 300 users, Courier and LDAP, while good, may introduce more 
complexity than is really necessary and unless the person setting up the 
system knows LDAP and Courier well, they will probably end up frustrated 
and possibly turning to a non-linux solution as "its simpler"

There is no reason why the default packages that come with RedHat Linux 
would not support 300 odd users. (if it was 10,000 users it may be a 
different story)
