As I'm reading my mail increasingly from multiple locations I was wondering about setting up an IMAP server on my RH9 mail server which runs sendmail. Currently I'm using POP and setting most locations to leave a copy on the server. From what I gather IMAP would be neater. Could some one point me at a howto to achieve this. Thanks in anticipation Roger
I too use my mail from all over the place - work, various cafes etc.
I have imap setup but I dont use it often (and i think it was installed with the OS). Its much easier to use a webmail service when away from my box. You can use http://www.mail2web.com and just enter you mail address OR...and this is what I done...setup your own webmail server ;p
www.openwebmail.com - dead easy to setup, it's all cgi based and runs under apache - access you mail from any browser, you dont even need to setup a mail client (no more nasty OE ;p)
There's a really good HOWTO on the site and it can be setup in a few mins. If you're really paranoid (Ben ;p) then i dont think it would be hard to setup an SSL version.
Hope this helps!
Jeff
